An Update to the Community

April 9, 2019 – Pipeline Health implemented a temporary service suspension today at Westlake Hospital due to concerns about patient care due primarily to declining staff rates and anticipated operations disruptions.

Our utmost priority is safety and quality of patient care. With declining staffing rates and more expected, a temporary suspension of services is necessary to assure safe and sufficient operations. This action is being taken after considering all alternatives and with the best interest of our patients and employees in mind.

For more information about the temporary suspension, please review the announcement Pipeline Health issued this morning. For community members seeking other sources of care, Westlake is located within 3 miles of the following medical centers:

  • West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park
  • Loyola Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center and stroke center
  • Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, a Level II Trauma Center

In addition, PCC Community Wellness Center, a Federally Qualified Health Care Center, provides patient care to residents in Melrose Park, including obstetrical and behavioral health services.

For patients with preexisting appointments and procedures, our staff are working with individuals to facilitate care at other facilities in a timely fashion.
